Today was so nice. There was a lovely breeze that rushed through the pines in my backyard, and I was determined to get out there to shoot some stitch guides in better lighting. I didn’t think about the wind, however, or what it could sound like on camera (or about the crows that always show up like evil little death omens), but whatever! The lighting was perfect, thank the lovely sun and the shade of my backyard patio, and other than the wind occasionally hitting the mic of the camera, and the crows spitting obscenities every now and then, the videos came out great!
I’m spending this weekend recording some stitch guide videos. I think in my sunburnt delirium (if you’re fair like the Irish and you decide to mow the lawn twice because the first time wasn’t low enough, put some damned sunscreen on!) I too-hastily decided to record in poor sunlight. While I have video of at least 4 more stitches, I think I’m going to try and re-record them while there’s some daylight outside. If that fails me, then I’ll just release what I have so far.
Right now, however, I’ve put up at least two three. They, of course, can be found at the YouTube account, where you can subscribe to the video updates. They can also be found under “Video Tutorials” at the top of the page, for future reference.
01. Slip Knot and Base Chain
02. Linked Treble Crochet
(This was requested by a reader, so here you go, Jen!)
I think it’s obvious that I took it in false light since everything is so…yellow. I’ll eventually replace them with better lighted video, but, for now, they do their job.
These really came about as part of a video podcast I was recording. However, I’m not pleased with the lighting I had set up for the me-portion of the podcast, so I just ripped out the stitch demonstrations. At least something was worth salvaging, right? Could have been worse.
I’m thinking about maxing out a credit card I can’t afford to max out on a digital handheld camcorder. The camera I borrow from my mother has a video feature, which is what I’ve been using, but it’s not great by any means, and I think that’s partly why the video I’ve taken so far has suffered.
Rationality will get the better of me and keep me from finding my credit card or wallet, but still…it could be nice to have.
Anyway, here are the guides:
Half-Double Crochet
Herringbone Half-Double Crochet
Double Crochet
