Bernat CottonTots is a 100% cotton worsted weight yarn. Bernat recommended a hook size of 4.50mm and a gauge of 20s x 26r in 4”x4”. I used a 5.00mm hook and came out with a gauge of 13.5s x 15.5r in 4”x4”.

While this yarn is the lightest of the three here in this post, it doesn’t hold it’s shape well at all. It has the least amount of vertical and horizontal stretch. The stitches also suffer after the stretching as the cotton doesn’t bounce back. Read more…

Josi Hannon Madera’s Crochet Academy begins its first seminar February 28th. I’m looking forward to it as there has, to my knowledge, never been anything like it before. Of course, there’s never been anything like a lot of what Josi puts out into the crochet world. She pushes the envelope, that one.

I have my DK weight yarn all ready, the three suggested hooks, and I’ve begun my swatches so that I can be prepared for “Gauge, Drape & Substitution.” In other words, is it the 28th yet? Read more…
