WsIP: Holiday KAL-CAL 2007 Scarf
By Brianna on Oct 4, 2007 in WsIP
You might notice in the title above that I wrote “WsIP” instead of the standard “WIPs”. No? You didn’t? Shame on you! You should put yourself in crochet time-out. (Not really. I’m only joking. No, seriously, come back–)
Well, for those of you who did notice (and for those of who you stuck around), I only point out the switch in abbreviation because I’d like to bring this to your attention:
(note: the “read the rest” will reveal all, plus there are pictures!)
(01) A “work in progress” is a WIP.
(02) “Works in progress” are WsIP.
(03) WIPs is either someone unfamiliar with a keyboard, and caps lock, while googling for “whips”, or it’s supposed to stand for “works in progress.” Instead, what you end up abbreviating is “work in progresses.”
Does that make any sense? No? I shouldn’t mention grammar on a crochet blog? Oooh, I see. How about I go wild and type with an accent instead? That thar is wutcha call a…uh–oh, to hell with it. It’s my bloggy, and I’ll type how I want to, type how I want to, type how I want to-o-o-o-o.
*ahem*
Moving on: I wanted to share a WIP that is already on a tunisian hook, and a WIP (a second makes two, which makes it WsIP–all right, I’ll stop) that I’m dreaming up; if I have any yarn left, I mean.
WIP #1: A scarf for the Holiday KAL-CAL, 2007, which is for an undisclosed recipient. I’m paranoid she’ll find her way to this blog, despite not knowing it exists!
The yarn spoke to me while picking up some frames at Michael’s. The colors in the photo aren’t really true, so here’s a photo of the yarn itself:

It’s Lion Brand’s Cotton Ease, which I’m not typically a fan of, but between the knitted swatch at the store and the retro color combination, I had to have them for myself! That is, I mean, until it’s given to the gift recipient. Until then, though? It’s alllll mine.
WIP #2: I’m thinking another hat to go with this scarf. Or maybe just a tunisian headband, in the same sort of stripes. Either way, I think it will be nice. A headband, though, may need to be worked with some elastic thrown in since the cotton doesn’t really give at all. So, uh, maybe a hat afterall.
Just another reason why I should plan ahead before I purchase yarn. It’s a good thing I don’t have any local yarn stores to visit. My impulse buys would threaten the stability–stability, right, AHAHAHA–of the household finances.

You had me at grammar, haha. My friends call me The Grammar Nazi, though I’ve relaxed a lot over the years. But you will never ever hear me say, “RPM’s” or “VIN number”. Argh!

I’m not perfect when it comes to grammar, but there are things I realize are a huge no-no. :)
